New Artist

A new Artist arrived at VynnArt on Saturday. His name is Andrew Gosh. He does portrait work with oils. They are incredible. He paints a portrait of someone he knows and adds them to a scene. Example; He did a portrait of a janitor at his college. The janitor is dressed in a three piece suit and playing poker. The characters are so life like that I expect them to move on the canvas. If they do, I am out of there...lol. And wait until you see his self portrait...WOW.

Kelly Bennett is also new to VynnArt. Quite a variety of work. One of her pieces is a solar system painted on glass using Krylon Spray Paint. It is far out.....She also has a pen and ink and a charcoal drawing.

Spent Sunday training Kazuko, the eggshell painter at VynnArt, to work for me every other Sunday. She did a great job. She actually washes windows. The place never looked so good. All was going well until she put me to work. So who trained who? I'll put it this was, I learned alot...

Condolences to Mark Crowley, the Raku Potter at VynnArt, who lost his father this week.

Tourist Withdrawl

The rush is over for now. The VynnArt Gallery has been open for 3 months now and the Art Supplies, one year and nine months. I still find it hard to believe that I own a gallery.

Monday I went to Woodstock, Vermont to check out other galleries. Got to talk to some gallery owners. We exchanged a few ideas. They were all interested in my unique combination of Art Supplies and Gallery. I was very pleased with the fact that I had something to share with them.

Only one of the galleries that I visited was not interested in having a conversation with me. It reminded me of one of my first visits to an Art Gallery when I was just out of high school. Classical music played in the background. The owner, dressed like a funeral director, politely nodded. He knew I couldn't afford a $100,000 painting and senced my nervousness and went about his business. The space was so open and cold. Every step I took echoed throughout the entire gallery, and I was wearing sneakers. There was another couple in there at the time. I watched them in hopes I could follow their lead in how to act. How come there shoes weren't making any noises? Noone talked or whispered. Felt like I was under "Library Rules"

This was not how I wanted my gallery to be. I want VynnArt to be inviting for everyone. Art is for everyone to enjoy. I replaced the classical music with "Singers and Songwriters of the 70's". Customers catch themselved singing all the time. I've gotten many compliments about the music selection.

Thank God, Vynnart has carpet. No echo's at VynnArt. And there is so much to see, with over 20 artists. People come back several times to get it all in. Several of the Artists change there work every few weeks so there is always something new to see. Artist works are all unique in style, mediums and pricing.

Im loving this experience and have decided to share it in a blog. In weeks to come I will be sharing my experiences as an Art Gallery owner, intruducing the artists and announcing future events. Feel free to comment or give suggestions.

Beautiful day in Meredith. I can't believe that it is July 1st. Happy to say that I have been open for 2 hours and have sold 2 paintings. Wouldn't it be great to sell a painting an hour. I am still smiling ear to earover the success of the "Meet the Artist" night held last Thursday. I owe all the success to my great artists. If you haven't had a chance to check out my new gallery, my hours are Wed - Sun., 10 - 5.

Art Workshops and Golf

Christine's "Birches in Watercolor" workshop is going on right now. Lots of laughter going on in the workshop area. Full class.

Finally made my debut in golf last Monday. I should have stayed home. Played in wind, rain, thunder, lightening but I refused to quit because I didn't want to be the whimp. Lost $2.00 to Ed, $5.00 to Dan, three golfballs and the feeling in my fingertips. It was wrong of those mean men to take advantage of me like that.

Can't wait until next week...

So sorry I haven't written for a while. Blogging can be very demanding.

Today I am writing to announce our Grand Opening which will be on Thursday, April 7th.

Sales and specials will be going on all day. We will then have an After Hours Party form 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Refreshments and Beverages will be served.

If you are in the market for some incredible art work, the Hodecker-George Gallery will be having some great sales during the After Hours Party.

I am going to make my famous wine punch. Yeeha...

You are all invited and would love to see you there for our celebration.

Enjoy the foot of snow tonight. I will be staying home Friday and working on my new VynnArt Creations Line, "Frog Day Afternoon". I will probably take a break to watch Judge Judy. "I love that Bitch"

BLOG Contest Winner Announced

A few weeks ago I ran a contest to name my new line of Easter Bunnies. Had some good entries and decided to call it "The Cottontail Collection". The winner of the contest goes by the name of "PW". PW is now the proud owner of a Cottontail of his choice. Thankyou to all who entered.
