News about what's new and exciting and happening at VynnArt Art Gallery in Meredith, NH.

An exhibit of paintings by Gerri Harvey and Kat Harvey Fedora, will take place at VynnArt  August 18 - September 7.
This is the second year that this mother daughter team will be exhibiting together in the Meredith gallery. Originally from Gilmanton, the two have been painting together since Kat was a child. After winning the Art Award when she graduated from 8th grade in Gilmanton, Kat was inspired and encouraged by her Gilford High School art teacher Lynn Makepeace. She went on to major in art at Keene State College and now lives and paints in her home studio in Westfield, MA. Kat  has worked as a ceramics artist for Janna Ugone, a company making high end home decor pieces, and as a popular tattoo artist in Northampton, MA for the past five years, designing and applying personalized body art. In addition, her watercolors have been exhibited in the Northampton area as well as at VynnArt.
After retiring five years ago from a career as an RN, Gerri moved to Gilford where she maintains a home art studio. Her acrylic landscapes are available at VynnArt and the LRAA Gallery at Tanger Outlets. Her art can be found in many private collections throughout New Hampshire and the US.  Visitors to both galleries are often tourists who want a painting of a local scene as a vacation souvenir, though she says she sells most of her paintings to locals. She says that her biggest collector lives locally right in Gilford, and owns seven pieces she has painted. She also gives private painting lessons in her studio and is active in the Lakes Region Art Association.
The Faces of Nature exhibit speaks to the essence of the diverse painting styles and subjects of the two artists. Kat's watercolors often include allegorical portraits in mystical nature-types of settings. Gerri's popular local landscapes depict the many seasonal faces of the Lakes Region. The exhibit also includes experimental pieces by Gerri in both watercolor and torn paper collage.
"It's easy to get comfortable painting familiar subjects in a favorite medium," she says, "but lately I have wanted to push myself to grow as an artist." In addition to a watercolor portrait workshop she and Kat took this summer with Santa Fe artist Ted Nuttall, and last summer with Chinese painter Lian Quan Zhen, Gerri has recently taken workshops with local artist Dennis Morton at Imagine Gallery at Vintage Row in Laconia. She credits him with a leap in her understanding of the importance of color and contrast.
Both artists will be offering originals and prints for purchase during the exhibit.

VynnArt has recently renovated the entire gallery.

I'm excited to announce that VynnArt has a brand new website designed by PCS Web Design of Alton, NH.  I worked closely with Jim Fontaine, the owner of PCS, and he's delivered a website that helps me to showcase the fine art represented in the gallery.  Please have a look around and let me know what you think!
